Professor in Theoretical / Computational Chemistry at Aarhus University 956498

Applications are invited for a permanent position as Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University, Denmark (www.chem.au.dk). The intended starting date is Oct 1st 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University is one of the leading European chemistry departments with research programs that range from medicinal chemistry to theoretical chemistry. It has a permanent staff of 29 full and associate professors, a support-staff of ~25 people, ~100 PhD-students and postdocs, and more than 500 students.
The position is within the broad field of theoretical and computational chemistry including modeling. The field of research is not restricted but may include small molecules, biological molecules and their structure and dynamics, as well as condensed matter. The application must contain a research plan that outlines research visions and topics. The proposed research must complement other research activities at the Department of Chemistry.
The successful candidate must have a strong track record of relevant excellent scientific research documented through articles in peer-reviewed international journals. Clear documentation of independent research activities and success in obtaining research funding are essential. The candidate is expected to build an independent research group and conduct an active program of internationally recognized research. The ability to engage in cross-disciplinary research projects as well as collaboration with colleagues at the Department of Chemistry, iNANO (see www.inano.au.dk), other departments at the Faculty of Science and Technology, as well as at other institutions will also be considered positively.
The successful candidate should be able to teach introductory chemistry courses as well as undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the field of physical chemistry as well as theoretical/computational chemistry and modeling. A non-Danish speaking candidate is expected to be able to teach in Danish on an undergraduate level within 3-5 years.
Further expectations for the appointment are that the candidates must have an extensive and excellent record of independent, ground-breaking research accomplishments as well as documented high-quality teaching and supervision experience. This means that after the deadline for applications - and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, - the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated.
