European Institute of Innovation and Technology
is the largest and strongest consortium in the raw materials sector worldwide. Its vision is
a Europe where raw materials are a strength. EIT RawMaterials unites more than 100 partners from industry,
research and academia, from more than 20 European countries. They collaborate on finding new, innovative
solutions to improving the raw materials sector along the entire value chain - from extraction to processing,
to recycling and reuse. EIT RawMaterials partners have more than 700,000 employees and revenue in excess of
EUR 200 billion.
The activities of EIT Raw Materials are managed by regional Co-Location Centres (CLC) based in Espoo (FI), Leuven (BE), Luleå (SE), Metz (FR), Rome (IT), Wroclaw (PL) and the Headquarters in Berlin (DE).
The RawMaterials Academy is the overarching brand of the education activities of the EIT RawMaterials. These range from innovative education
projects launched via calls for proposals and run by EIT RawMaterials partner organisations to a number of centrally operated projects,
educational events and workshops. Activities across the entire ecosystem of learners - PhD students, Masters’ students, industrial partners,
professionals within the raw materials sector, and wider society - foster new ways of learning and teaching by linking academia, industry
and research organisations. The aims of the Academy are:
We are now recruiting a Head of the RawMaterials Academy
- To introduce society as a whole to the importance and relevance of raw materials and incite interest in topics related to raw materials
- To train current and future stakeholders to the technical standards required by the raw materials industry today - contextually across the full raw materials value chain
- To foster the entrepreneurial and innovation skills, knowledge and attitudes needed for the entre- and intrapreneurs of tomorrow
As Head of the RawMaterials Academy, you will be responsible for
Supporting the Director of Education as needed. Management of day to day operations and performance of the RawMaterials Academy together with the entire
KIC team and the Director of Education. Ensuring that the different elements of the EIT RawMaterials Academy, the Education team and the partners work
together effectively and cohesively, you will personally drive improvements and take the necessary actions to ensure we deliver EIT RawMaterials’ ambitious objectives and milestones.
The post holder will work closely with the KIC’s Education Team, located in six Co-location Centres throughout Europe, and will report to the Director of Education.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The EIT Label is a quality certification for innovation and entrepreneurship in educational programmes. The Head of the Academy will be responsible
for its related activities at all levels (mainly higher education, but also other educational levels when applicable). This includes but is not limited to:
Co-representation on the Education Panel (consisting of Education Directors from the 5 other Knowledge and Innovation Communities) in matters related to the EIT Label
Development of concept and process of the EIT Label, together with other Knowledge and Innovation Communities and EIT
Coordination of the EIT Labelling application process within EIT RawMaterials, together with the partners and EIT
Marketing and communication strategy for all programmes
Supervision of the development and implementation of a broad communication and marketing strategy together with the International Marketing and Recruitment Officer of the EIT RawMaterials Academy
Functional management of the International Marketing and Recruitment Officer of the EIT RawMaterials Academy
Quarterly project reviews of the partners 70+ pan-European projects - this task will be shared with the Director of Education by allocating two domains of learning to each,
depending on the candidates’ interests and experience. The project reviews include reviewing of project performance, troubleshooting of problems and reporting to the CEO on individual project progress.
Support the Director of Education in reporting to EIT, writing the annual business plan and representing EIT RawMaterials to a wide variety of external and internal stakeholders.
Altogether, we are looking for a person with outstanding leadership skills, a lot of creativity and the ability to motivate and inspire
others with a strong team spirit. You will also have a track record of successfully delivering complex operations in an international
context; driving up efficiency and performance through others and being able to articulate complex messages to a range of stakeholders.
Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken, level C2)
Proven research and analytical skills, with capacity to identify key issues across a range of complex educational and/or raw materials related technical areas
Demonstrated, highly developed written communication skills, including experience in complex report writing, producing work requiring no supervision
Well-developed oral communication, representational and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to establish and manage complex relationships
with a network of contacts and to effectively represent EIT RawMaterials at public events
Sound judgment, and very well developed planning and organisational skills, including an ability to work with independence to meet multiple objectives and competing deadlines
Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to meet objectives of a small team, including proven initiative, cooperation, flexibility and reliability
Proven ability to build and maintain strong partnerships and alliances with internal and external stakeholders including senior management in industry, governmental organisations and education institutions.

How to apply
The Head of the RawMaterials Academy (m/f) will be employed by the EIT Raw Materials GmbH Headquarters, Berlin, Germany.
The candidate needs to be prepared to travel frequently to different EIT RawMaterials locations across Europe.
