Personal Assistant (f/m) to the Director

The Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens (to be established)
of Max Planck Director Prof. Emmanuelle Charpentier is seeking a
Personal Assistant to the Director
(CRISPR-Cas and infection microbiology research)

for a full-time employment (39 hours/week) of initially 2 years.

  • Preparation, editing and management of personal and scientific reports and documents for the Director
  • Preparation and management of presentations to a scientific audience, schools or the public
  • Handling and managing phone and written communication for the director, including scientific correspondences
  • Coordination of all meetings, appointments and visits, taking action points and writing minutes
  • Supporting the director in her daily business
  • Organization of the directors schedule as well as her agenda
  • Preparing and advising the director in decision making processes
  • An University degree in natural sciences or management is considered as an advantage
  • Experience as a personal assistant to a Director is considered an advantage
  • Excellent competence in software applications (Microsoft Office, database manager)
  • Perfect knowledge in German (native speaker)
  • An indispensable requirement for the candidate is to speak and write in excellent English and German
  • Profound interest in the research topic CRISPR-Cas and other topics of the Department (for more information visit

  • Working independently and as part of an international team
  • Openness and interest in learning new tasks, ability to multi-task and work with tight deadlines
  • Flexible availability at non-regular working hours
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability for structured work and taking personal initiatives
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic to work in a highly competitive, dynamic, stimulating and interacting international scientific environment focusing on basic biological research
According to the training, qualifications and professional experience, the remuneration can be up to EG 14 TVöD-Bund. The benefits correspond to the regulations of the public service. The position is available at the earliest possible date.
