position for a PhD student:

Development of new coating systems for the electroplating industry

In this position, Atotech will fund you for up to three years. You will perform your work at the R&D department of the Atotech in Trebur.

The project is focused on understanding and further development of new coa­ting systems to improve the corrosion resistance of engineering parts. In in­dus­try, Zn electroplating is a necessary step and usually followed by further steps to reach advanced corrosion performance on steel substrates. In order to develop new so­lu­tions with desired performance, facts between these steps have to be well-
known and understood. In this project, it is mainly aimed to study these effects and develop practical solutions for the industry. Further details on the project can be given to the interested candidate (m/f) upon request.

You have a diploma or M.Sc. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or ma­te­ri­als science and engineering. You are highly motivated and creative. You en­joy working in an international environment, with close contact to the principal advisor and you love to communicate and share ideas. You design your ex­pe­ri­ments together with your advisor. You accept to work together with different departments as well as different universities if needed. You follow literature and related da­ta­ba­ses regularly and report to your supervisor. You have excellent presentation and reporting skills in English.
