The section Physical Oceanography invites applications for a
Postdoc position (50%)
in the framework of the BMBF-funded research association (Verbundvorhaben): "Greenland Ice Sheet/Ocean interaction" (GROCE).
The position will provide the organisational support to coordinate the research association.
Scientific Coordination Officer
The research association GROCE is an interdisciplinary cooperation between ten partners in seven German science institutions. The partners will jointly explore the interaction between the shrinking Greenland ice sheet and the warming North Atlantic Ocean, thereby combining in-situ fieldwork, remote sensing analyses and modelling activities on various time and spatial scales. To maximize the scientific outcome of the project, a tight coordination of the activities and the representation of their results is mandatory.
You will work closely with the partner teams towards reaching maximum success of the project. Furthermore you will organise regular internal seminars and international meetings, manage the project website and the communication with the public, support internal information and data exchange, promote the involvement of GROCE into international programs, and assist representing GROCE in the international science community.
- PhD degree in earth and/or climate sciences or a related field;
- Experience in scientific report writing and editing;
- Proficiency in written and spoken English at science level;
- Flexibility for European and overseas travel;
- Ability to plan, organise and execute complex problems;
- Capability to interact with the international science community;
- Experience in science support work would be an asset.
The position is limited up to 3 years. The salary will be paid in accordance with the German Tarifvertrag des öffentlichen Dienstes (TVöD Bund), up to salary level 13. The place of employment will be Bremerhaven.
