Digitization is transforming the way supply chains are designed and monitored. Technology enables new delivery channels, new services, new business models. Internet of Things, open data, and intelligent software agents open up entirely new ways of organizing. Increasingly big data is available to analyse and re-design industrial networks. The application of techniques from artificial intelligence and robotics to supply chain have a large impact on the distribution of work and the interfaces between machines and humans. As a consequence, social, regulatory and environmental considerations need to be an integral part of novel supply chain designs. The envisaged research in this area thus takes an inter-disciplinary approach in the spirit of the high-tech human-touch mission of the university. We expect you to:
- conduct research in the above area in pro-actively linking ICT innovations and financial services.
- (co-)teach and coordinate courses in the Bachelor and Master programs of Industrial Engineering and Business & IT and International Business Administration in areas such as Information Systems, supply chain management , Big Data and analytics, decision sciences
- supervise bachelor and master students during their thesis research
- contribute towards the supervision of PhD students
- be a strong team player
- formulate and carry out your own research within the focus area of IEBIS
- assist in obtaining funding for research from external sources
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a Doctoral degree (PhD) and research experience using quantitative or technology intensive research methods. We value a track record in research linking knowledge of ICT and expertise in a business domain (supply chain, health care, financial services). You have teaching experience, demonstrable didactic qualities and experience in student supervision. You have a record of high quality articles in reputed peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences. You also have affinity with and preferably experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment. You are comfortable connecting technology and business and have a strong entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. Ideal candidates fit the university‘s high tech-human touch profile. While having expertise in state-of-the art technological concepts, you can position developments within a broader social science context (relating to industrial engineering, business and IT and international business). We are looking for someone with excellent communication and language skills and the ability and eagerness to be involved in commissioned research. Possession of the UTQ qualification or its equivalent is preferred; otherwise the University will fully support you in obtaining UTQ within a (maximum) period of 3 years. Conditions of employment
We offer very challenging positions in an inspiring environment. You will be appointed as assistant professor, preferably in a full-time position and at least for 32 hours a week for an initial period of two years, with prospects of a permanent position upon good performance. The department and faculty support excellence and growth in research and teaching. We are committed to supporting your career development. The salary scale, depending on your actual experience, ranges from € 3.427 to € 5.330 gross per month, based upon the job profile of Assistant Professor, level 2 or 1. You are entitled to a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary plus an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
