The School of Social Sciences at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main seeks to recruit
one post-doctoral researcher
for the research project „Corroding the social? An empirical evaluation of the relationship between unemployment and
social stratification in OECD countries (CORRODE).” The CORRODE project is funded by the European Research Council and
led by Professor Markus Gangl. Employment should begin by August 1, 2017, or shortly thereafter. The work contract will
terminate at the end of the project on August 31, 2019. All further terms of the contract are governed by applicable German
federal and state university law.
Candidates are expected to have an excellent academic background (at the Master’s or PhD level, respectively) in
quantitative sociology, preferably including demonstrated expertise in the areas of social stratification and panel data
analysis. Ideally, applicants should have specific research interests relating to the role of unemployment for demographic
behavior (e.g., family formation, fertility, divorce). The successful candidate is expected to become an active member
Professor Gangl’s broader research group, to conduct the project work jointly with and under the direction of
Professor Gangl, and to pursue her/his own professional development in these roles. Prior exposure to international
research environments and publications in peer-reviewed journals will be considered a plus in case of PhD-level candidates.
