Professor (W3) in "Experimental Pharmacology"

The successful candidate should have a proven track record of international excellence in the study of pharmacology. We seek applicants who characterize novel drug targets and investigate drug actions on the cellular or organismic level. Candidates with experience in translational research that utilizes modern methods of cell biology, genetics, and biochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. The post is well-equipped and is in a stimulating environment that allows for close collaborations with researchers in clinical pharmacy, biochemistry and medicinal pharmacology. Participation in existing interdisciplinary research programmes, especially in the thematic area of therapeutically relevant proteins, is strongly encouraged, as is a willingness to establish new collaborative ventures. Application of early career scientists with an established track record of independent research is strongly encouraged.

Requirements for application include habilitation, or an equivalent academic achievement, a proven track-record in internationally recognized research and appropriate teaching experience. Acquisition of third-party funding is expected.

Candidates are expected to provide effective teaching covering the entire field of pharmacology/ toxicology for the Pharmacy and Natural Science programmes. German is the required teaching language for most courses. Active participation in academic and administrative duties within the University is expected according to the Hochschulgesetz Sachsen-Anhalt (§ 34 HSG-LSA) and the requirements for recruitment are outlined in § 35 HSG-LSA.
