Associate Professorship (W2 equivalent) in Data Science

– esp. Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Distributed Computing, Cognitive Computing, Computer Vision – at University of Hildesheim, Germany

Applications are invited for an associate professorship position in data science at the Institute for Computer Science at University of Hildesheim, Germany. Recognized expertise in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Distributed Computing, Cognitive Computing, Computer Vision or any other current research area within data science is sought in particular. The position is available to be filled immediately for five years initially (according to §§ 35 (2) and 26 (1) Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz). Permanent employment will be explored for establishing a successful study program. The salary will be equivalent to the German salary level W2 for associate professors (starting at 65.000€ per year, negotiated upon offer). The position will head a research group, e.g., consisting of two paid PhD positions (TVL E13, roughly 44.000 € per year each).

We are looking for a researcher with an excellent publication track record in data science and a strong commitment for teaching. A PhD degree and postdoctoral experience as well as English proficiency are required. German proficiency is not necessary. Interest in and experience with research funding and cooperations with other disciplines and companies are beneficial.

The Institute of Computer Science has a strong focus on research and education in artificial intelligence, machine learning and software engineering. It features among other degree programs the very successful InternationalMaster‘s Program in Data Analytics (see https://www.ismll.uni-hildesheim.de/da/).

Located in Hildesheim, the University of Hildesheim is renowned for high quality research and education. Hildesheim is a beautiful town with UNESCO World Heritage Sites, located in the very center of Germany, just 30 km from Hannover.
