The Smart Data Innovation Lab of the Steinbuch Centre of Computing is offering a position to a person with a master university degree who has experience in data mining and machine learning and is fluent in written and spoken English and German. Applicant‘s Profile:
You have an excellent university degree from the field of computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a comparable degree program for Data Science. You have experience with machine learning algorithms and data mining. You are also fluent in spoken and written English as well as German. You are an eager team player with good communication skills who engages in discussions respectfully and with strong arguments. You can adapt yourself to diverse international environments. As an experienced data scientist, you are fulling competent to:
- explore data analytics in a big data environment for the generation of business insights
- gain valuable information from different industrial data sources and real-time data based on pattern recognition and hidden trends
- analyze disordered and heterogeneous data based on statistical and mathematical methods in machine learning
- interpret and visualize the acquired information for presenting to clients
- program in one or more scientific programming languages such as Python (esp. Scikit-learn, pandas), R
- produce prototypes and scripts (e.g. Python)
- processing large amounts of data (big data)
We are an enthusiastic international group of young data scientists and administrators, keen to challenge ourselves with appealing tasks. We are also flexible in managing our working hours to suit individual members of the team. Being located at KIT‘s computing center, we are benefiting from being surrounded by experts.
The Smart Data Innovation Lab (http://www.sdil.de) is one of the three Big Data Competence Centers declared by BMBF. The SDIL group located at the Steinbuch Centre for Computing, KIT in Karlsruhe provides a unique platform to experiment with big data algorithms. Data Scientists have the opportunity to work directly with industry in various kinds of data analysis project. This position is limited for one year, with the possibility of being extended.
