EIFER is located near the Centre of Karlsruhe in the Technology Park of the city. The institute gathers an international team of more than 100 researchers and offers a comfortable working environment equipped with advanced research facilities.

Research Fellow f/m in Geoscience

in order to support its members on sustainable cities engineering and the development of local energy systems.

EIFER has two main fields of activities in Geoscience:
  • Geothermal Energy
  • CO2 Capture and Storage
The assigned tasks involve
  • Participate to prefeasibility studies in one of the 2 main field of interest
  • Evaluate geothermal energy potential (shallow and medium depth)
  • Studies on the coupling of geothermal plants with energy systems (district heating...)
  • Estimate CO2 storage capacities of reservoirs
  • Technical and economic studies on the topic of interest
  • Technological and regulatory survey on the topic of interest (identification and analysis of innovations and new technologies for example in drilling or exploration)
Required qualifications / skills / interests
  • Master degree (or equivalent) in geoscience (geology, geochemistry...) or engineering with a special focus on geological topics
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Good writing skills and ability to convey clear and efficient messages
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong innovation skills and ability to propose solutions to technical problems encountered
Competences that would be appreciated:
  • Competences in hydrogeology, geotechnologies or reservoirs
  • Skills in French and/or German language
  • Professional background in one/some of the field of interest (3 – 5 years)

Conditions
The duration of the position is initially limited to 2 years with the option of extension, starting as soon as possible.

The salary is based on qualification and experience.
