Scientific Assistant in the area of optical
biosensors aiming for a Ph.D. degree

with effect of 01. March 2018 fixed-term for a Ph.D. duration of 3 years. It is a full-time position (38,7 hours); the salary corresponds to 13 TV-L if applicable considering the candidate‘s qualifications. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week.
The research focus of the position is on the design, fabrication as well as experimental characterization of optical sensors for protein detection. In particular, different types of sensors shall be analyzed regarding their signal-to-noise ratio. The sensor fabrication as well as functionalization for biological measurements shall be conducted in cooperation with a technician at the clean room facility of the Kiel Nanolab. For the characterization experimental setups are to be realized and applied in the optical laboratories.
The candidate is expected to hold a distinguished Master degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar course of study as well as good skills in applied optics and programming. Desired are skills in the areas of biosensors, microfluidics and noise analysis.
