The University of Cologne, Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with the Forschungszentrum (FZ) Jülich within
the Helmholtz-Association of German research Centres (HGF) invites applications for a
for Protein dynamics and Proteolysis
as per the requirements outlined in § 36 of the Universities act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG NRW).
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be on permanent leave from the University of Cologne and will carry out research at the
Forschungszentrum Jülich of the HGF as a scientist in a leading position. At the same time the successful candidate
is undertaking teaching duties of 2 semester hours per week at the Medical Faculty.
The aim of this position is the expansion of an internationally competitive research program of proteomic characterization
of global protease activity in close collaboration with the research foci of Forschungszentrum Jülich, the Medical
Faculty, the CECAD Cluster of Excellence on Ageing Research, the CMMC and the collaborative Research Centres of the
University of Cologne as well as the MPI for Metabolic Research and the MPI for Biology of Ageing.
The respective candidate should be internationally recognized in proteome analysis. In particular, a strong background
is expected in the area of proteolytic processing and the global identification of protease substrates.
Candidates should have a lecture qualification (Habilitation or equivalent). Further requirements for a successful
application are an outstanding scholarly record and the willingness to engage in developing the new study program
in medicine as well as contribute to further study programs and graduate school programs of the Medical Faculty.
The FZ Jülich and the Medical Faculty seeks to appoint a candidate with an excellent track record in research
and teaching. Social skills, the capacity to work in multidisciplinary teams and apply for qualified extramural
research funds are prerequisites.
