The MRC Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC) is a leading MRC Research Institute on the Hammersmith Campus of Imperial College, carrying out wide-ranging programmes in basic, applied and clinical research. Our aim is to train and mentor the next generation of scientists, to carry out world class research, and to facilitate the translation of this understanding into improved diagnosis and treatment.

The CSC provides an excellent research environment, with state-of-the-art facilities including next-generation sequencing, proteomics and imaging. There will be numerous opportunities for strong scientific interactions with particular expertise in genomics, epigenetics, metabolism and imaging. For more information, visit www.csc.mrc.ac.uk.

The post holder will work within the Physiological Genomics and Medicine (PGM) Group based in the Genes and Metabolism Section of the CSC and headed by Professor Tim Aitman. The post holder will play a key role in the computational analysis of genome-scale genetic and epigenetic datasets generated by next-generation sequencing, with the aim of integrating multiple data types to derive an understanding of disease phenotypes in humans and animal models.

The Group has access to state-of-the-art genome facilities including Sanger and next-generation sequencing platforms (Illumina HiSeq2000 and MiSeq, Roche GS Junior, SOLiD, Ion Torrent), as well as high-throughput genotyping and microarray platforms.

The main duties of the post holder will be to take responsibility for and co-ordinate their own scientific work, and to take a leading role and provide intellectual input into the PGM Group’s research meetings and academic activities. The post holder will conduct data analysis, ensuring the validity and reliability of data with the aim of publishing in high quality journals and presenting data at national and international meetings.
