Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Supply Chain ManagementThe German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) was established in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University in 2007 in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. The vision of GUtech is to become a leading university of technology in the wider region by building on the three pillars of education, research and innovation. Through its affiliation with RWTH Aachen University, GUtech provides students with the education required to become highly qualified and socially responsible graduates, guided by German excellence and with a firm grounding in Oman‘s culture and heritage.
GUtech‘s programs of study are accredited by the German agency ACQUIN, and the University has recently undergone a successful evaluation by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD. GUtech faculty also engage in local research projects, often in cooperation with RWTH Aachen University and other universities abroad.
The Faculty of Business and Economics at GUtech currently offers B.Sc. programs in "International Business and Service Management" and "Logistics" and plans to further expand in this direction. The Faculty is looking to appoint qualified candidates who can contribute to the development of its teaching and research programs and invites applications for the position of:
Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Supply Chain ManagementThe rank of each position will depend on qualifications.
1. Requirements and Competencies
Candidates for this position should hold a PhD degree or equivalent with a specialization in supply chain/logistics management, operations management, industrial engineering, management science, or a related area and should have strong research potential or a record of scholarship as demonstrated by international publications, presentations at peer reviewed conferences, or externally funded projects. We also expect teaching experience at the undergraduate level and the willingness to continuously improve own teaching skills.
Applicants should have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment. The language of instruction at GUtech is English.
2. Tasks and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach in the programs of the faculty, ideally covering a broad variety of topics, and is also expected to contribute to the further development of the faculty‘s teaching portfolio. The candidate will carry out original research and publish successfully in high-quality academic journals. Activities to attract externally funded applied projects that correspond to the needs of the region are welcome.
3. Our Offer
GUtech offers an international and dynamic environment with an extensive research network provided by RWTH Aachen University. A committee comprising of RWTH and GUtech academic staff will select the successful applicants. The employer will be the German University of Technology in Oman.
The appointment is initially for four years and renewable, dependent on positive performance reviews. The salary is internationally competitive. Offers are subject to receiving Omani teaching and labor permits, which will be arranged by the University.
