TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany’s top medical schools in research and in teaching. The professor will be appointed Director of the Institute of Tumor Biology at the University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar. The professorship is associated with the leadership of a research unit within the Center for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM). This center is unique in Germany and combines the strengths of Bio-medicine and Life Sciences together with Engineering, Physics and Chemistry to work closely together towards a multi-disciplinary attack on cancer and to offer high impact innovation. Close interactions with the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich (CCCM), the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) as well as other German Health Centers are desirable. Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of experimental tumor biology. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments.
The candidate is expected to engage in collaborative research with neighboring disciplines and applications for research networks (DFG, BMBF, EU). Furthermore, integration into the Munich School of Bio-engineering is anticipated. Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program in experimental tumor biology. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites.
