The Klinikum rechts der Isar/Technical University of Munich (TUM) is seeking applications from highly motivated candidates for a Postdoc/Lab Manager position in the preclinical imaging core facility of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center (SFB 824, www.sfb824.de) entitled "Imaging for Selection, Monitoring and Individualization of Cancer Therapies". The preclinical imaging core located at the Department of Nuclear Medicine (www.nuk.mri.tum.de) and the Center for Translational Cancer Research (TranslaTUM, www.translatum.tum.de) provides state-of-the-art imaging instrumentation and consists of a group of scientists working on applications and specific improvements of multimodal imaging.

Lab Manager for Molecular Imaging Facility (SFB 824)

The successful candidate will be responsible for method and protocol development as well as supervision and technical operation of preclinical PET/MRI, PET/CT and SPECT/CT instruments. She/he will be head of the newly installed core facility / molecular imaging lab at TranslaTUM assisted by two technicians. During the next funding period of SFB824, two areas will be of special focus: One topic is multimodality imaging with PET/MRI technologies for the simultaneous evaluation of tumor biology. The second topic is the validation of new radiopharmaceuticals developed within the SFB824 community. Data analysis and coregistration techniques will be developed and a central software platform for image data storage will be further optimized by the candidate. She/he will be part of a team of interdisciplinary researchers and will work closely with members of the SFB 824. She/he will be supervised by a team of experienced scientists from the Department of Nuclear Medicine (Prof. Markus Schwaiger, Dr. Franz Schilling, Dr. Jorge Cabello). TUM provides excellent infrastructure for cutting edge research in the field of preclinical imaging, including two preclinical PET/MRI systems, one of them being equipped for metabolic MR imaging using hyperpolarized substances, and a state-of the-art radiochemistry.
Qualification:
We invite applications from candidates having a PhD with a strong background in physics, electrical engineering, bioengineering or related subjects. Previous experience in biomedical imaging and animal handling is expected, ideally in the field of preclinical PET and CT imaging. Team spirit, capability of independent self-motivated and work, as well as very good English and communication skills are required. We expect the candidate to have a strong command of least one programming language (e.g. C, C++, Matlab, Python). Knowledge of biomedical imaging postprocessing software tools are considered beneficial (Matlab, PMOD). The applicant is expected to have an excellent academic track record including publications in peer-reviewed journals.

The postdoctoral candidate will be employed by Klinikum rechts der Isar (Full position TV-L E13). We give priority to severely disabled applicants with essentially equal qualifications.
The position is initially limited to 3 years.
