Research assistant (PhD position) in molecular basis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (m/f)


Applications are invited for a PhD position at the Endocrine Research Labs of the Medical Department IV/University of Munich on the transregional CRC/TRR 205 "The Adrenal: Central> Relay in Health and Disease" funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). In a unique effort top level researchers and doctors of the University Hospitals of Munich, Dresden and Würzburg will promote the understanding of humoral and molecular mechanisms of adrenal diseases and develop improved diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

The PhD student (m/f) will be joining a highly motivated and expanding team of researchers studying the protein stability congenital adrenal hyperplasia, one of the most common inborn metabolic disorders. The successful applicant (m/f) will be expected to attend and present his/her data at national and international scientific conferences.

In particular the PhD position involves:
  • Protein biochemistry (protein purification, protein half-life, BRET, Co-Immunoprecipitation, thermal shift assay, isothermal titration calorimetry)
  • Immunofluorescence
  • Molecular biology (genotyping, cloning, site-directed mutagenesis)
  • Cell biology and functional assays (enzyme activity assays)
  • Preparation of publications and lectures
  • Exposure to a vibrant scientific environment with multiple collaborative bonds to researchers from the whole SFB consortium
We seek:
  • Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in biology, pharmacology or biochemistry and allied disciplines with a strong commitment to research
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English
  • Open-mindedness, self-motivation and abiltity to work independently in national and international translational research
