The Division for Molecular Virology of Human Infectious Diseases at the University Hospital Tübingen, Germany (Prof. Dr. Michael Schindler), invites candidates to apply for a vacancy with the following project:
PhD Student in Molecular Virology to study innate immune sensing and restriction of HIV-1 (f/m)
The group has a focus on the interaction of Human Immunodeficiency virus and Hepatitis c virus with its host. The position is initially funded for 36 months in the framework of a DFG
priority program, giving the opportunity for extensive networking with various other groups
working on similar topics.
This project involves advanced super-resolution live cell fluorescence imaging with HIV-1 in our BSL-3 facility. Therefore, experience with live cell imaging and the according data handling would be an asset. Furthermore, we have set up novel techniques to identify and characterize viral protein interactions and to screen for interfering substances. We seek highly motivated candidates with a strong dedication to science.
Advantageous, but not mandatory, is a background in:
- working in a BSL-3 facility
- HIV-1 virological assays
- live cell imaging
- basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning)
