WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is a state-approved private institute of higher education with university status. WHU offers internationally oriented courses of study in Business Administration (MSc, BSc), a Full-time and Part-time MBA, the Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA, the Bucerius/WHU Master of Law and Business-Joachim Herz Program (MLB), a doctoral degree program as well as specialized corporate training programs. WHU's Accounting and Control Group is seeking applications for the newly created position of
Full Professor in the area of
Financial Accounting (m/f)
starting on July 1, 2013 or sooner.
WHU values research and provides various opportunities for both national and international cooperation. WHU has subscriptions to major accounting and finance databases including WRDS, Compustat, Datastream/Worldscope, and Amadeus (Bureau van Dijk). The Accounting and Control Group conducts a research seminar series, and the Group's researchers publish in top-tier international journals such as Management Science, Review of Accounting Studies, and Journal of Financial Economics.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The position is created to strengthen the Group's research profile and the focus will be on research. Required teaching is limited to 96 hours per year and will be conducted in WHU's various programs. Teaching at WHU is in English, and teaching experience in English- language programs is thus helpful.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a relevant PhD degree or equivalent academic qualification, documenting excellence in research through an outstanding publication record in international peer-reviewed academic journals and a strong research pipeline. An empirical research orientation would be welcome, but is not required. We expect a commitment to high- quality research and the contribution to the research environment at the WHU. We further value a strong record in teaching, and a commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. While excellent command of English is necessary, knowledge of German is not required.
REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: Salary is competitive at the European level and depends on the candidate's qualification. The offered package includes a generous research budget, a PhD position, and administrative assistance. The conditions of appointment are comparable to those at public German universities.
