Our institute is leading in population-based health research, focusing on cohort studies (e. g.
Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP) / German National Cohort), with about two published
peer-reviewed papers per week in medical journals across a wide range of topics. In
collaboration with major other epidemiologic research institutions, we work on methods to
assess data quality standards in epidemiologic research. We are looking for a Scientist with a
strong background in research methods and advanced data analysis to expand our scientific
The position shall be either part-time or full-time subject to the available volume of third-party
funds, for a fixed-term of up to five years (according to the part-time and temporary
employment law) with the option for subsequent renewal. Home office options are possible.
Fields of activity
Advanced statistical analysis of study and secondary data, scientific publishing
Statistical methods development (focus on R, Stata welcome)
Network activities focusing on standards in data quality
Support in academic teaching
University degree (MSc and/or PhD) in Statistics, Mathematics, Biomathematics,
Bioinformatics, or the like
Excellent data analysis and programming skills using R, and preferably also Stata or SAS
Experience with epidemiologic studies, a Master degree in Epidemiology or Public Health
(MSc or MPH) would be welcome
Publication track in international peer-reviewed journals
Skills in database management (MySQL, PostgreSQL) are an asset
Fluency in English
A highly structured workflow and the ability to work independently with methodological
Very good communication and presentation skills as you will be working in network projects
