Adjunct Professor in (Business) Logistics (part-time or full-time)
Kühne Logistics University (KLU) in Hamburg, Germany, is recruiting an adjunct professor in (business) logistics for a start in January 2019. We are particularly interested to recruit a strong candidate with a background in transportation, warehousing, 3PL management and/or sourcing. The final denomination of the position will be defined in line with the interests of the successful applicant. The position is a full-time appointment, but those interested in a part-time position (at least 50%) are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a strong interest in teaching at the executive and undergraduate level. Apart from teaching, which is the main focus of the task, adjunct professors are also expected to contribute to KLU’s research output and impact.
KLU is a private, independent, international, and state-recognized business school. With a strong emphasis on logistics, supply chain management, and general management in research and education, KLU has a young and ambitious faculty. KLU’s official and working language is English.
The adjunct professor in business logistics will teach courses in the domains of logistics, warehousing, transport, purchasing, sourcing and contact management. Teaching is primarily in our undergraduate and executive programs, and in some of our Master programs, and also includes advising on Bachelor and Master Theses. Next to that, the adjunct professor will conduct research in her or his chosen area of research and publish this research in international academic and domestic or international practitioner journals. Like other faculty, the adjunct professor will also take part in industry outreach and university service activities.
Candidates should combine their academic background with a demonstrable knowledge of the field of logistics. We value experience in obtaining or having operated in an environment with research funds from government, state funded institutions, industry, and other third parties. The applicants need to have completed a PhD in (business) logistics or a related discipline in business or engineering. In addition, the applicant should already have a number of academic publications (based on which international candidates could obtain a Habilitation-equivalence) and/or have a German Habilitation. The initial contract duration is three years, which, upon good performance, can be extended by an additional three years, upon which a permanent contract can be offered.
We offer internationally competitive salaries, a teaching requirement of 400 academic hours per year per full-time equivalent, an annual research budget, and administrative support. In addition, KLU will contribute generously to an approved superannuation scheme.
For general information, please visit our website, www.the-klu.org. KLU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from women and minority groups.
We specifically would like to encourage candidates with a non-German background and/or significant experience outside of Germany to apply, to further increase the diversity of our faculty.
Applicants are invited to send their application electronically, along with the usual documents (cover letter, CV with main areas of academic interest, complete
list of publications and of courses taught, evidence of pedagogical training, and most recent teaching evaluations) by September 1st, 2018 to Birgit Kappert and
Melanie Winkelmann at email@example.com
