Our goal is to educate entrepreneurial, responsible, and effective business leaders through excellence in research, teaching and practice. The appointed Juniorprofessor will be the academic lead for the new tech start-up incubation program “STARK” – an initiative funded by the Saxon Government to facilitate entrepreneurship in East Saxony. Transfer capabilities are thus an important aspect for contributing to the objectives of STARK to develop and incubate new business models both in start-ups and in established organizations. A specific requirement is a willingness to strongly cooperate with research institutions and other universities to motivate and enable spin-off start-ups. The candidate should have deep applicable knowledge about start-up incubation and acceleration and experience in conceptualization and delivery of start-up support and acceleration programs. IT-related competencies (e.g. Coding, Software Engineering, AI, Blockchain, Crypto, etc.) are beneficial, an IT-related degree a plus.
In the field of research, the potential to develop an internationally recognized entrepreneurship research reputation is of very high importance and integration into the Strategic Entrepreneurship Research Group is possible. The candidate should show a first track record of publications in international high-quality journals with high impact on either academic or practice-oriented audiences. Experience in a business school environment is recommended and could be reflected by an obtained doctoral degree from a leading European or international Business School.
HHL has a reputation for outstanding teaching and a very international student body. The candidate should show strong evidence of international teaching excellence at the interface of entrepreneurship, technology and technology transfer. Teaching approaches should combine multiple methods and follow a research-induced teaching style. For efficient teaching, fluency in both English and German is required.
As a member of the HHL faculty, the successful candidate will be integrated into a very personal and mutually supportive working environment. Leipzig is a vibrant and very international city with over 30.000 students. It is the fastest-growing city in Germany and multiple studies have confirmed a very high standard of living for people of all ages and families alike.
