Assistant Professor in Software and Process Engineering
DTU Compute, Section for Software and Process Engineering, invites applications for an appointment as Assistant Professor within software
and process engineering for digital transformation. The position is available from September 2018 or according to mutual agreement. The
assistant professorship is a permanent entry-level faculty position.
Our department DTU Compute is an internationally unique academic environment spanning the science disciplines mathematics, statistics and
computer science. At the same time, we are an engineering department covering informatics and communication technologies (ICT) in their
broadest sense. Finally, we play a major role in addressing the societal challenges of the digital society where ICT is a part of every
industry, service, and human endeavour.
DTU Compute strives to achieve research excellence in its basic science disciplines, to achieve technological leadership in research and
innovation, and to address societal challenges in collaboration with partners at DTU and other academic institutions, nationally and internationally,
and, equally important, with industry and organizations. We communicate and collaborate with leading centres and strategic partners in order to
increase participation in major consortia.
DTU Compute also plays a central role in education at all levels of the engineering programmes at DTU - both in terms of our scientific disciplines
and our didactic innovation.
With this position, the department wants to strengthen its capabilities in teaching, research, and innovation within software and process
engineering for digital transformation. The software and process engineering section at DTU has experts in human and cognitive aspects of
software and process engineering, formal aspects of software engineering as well as the digitalization of (business) processes including
process mining. This newly created position is part of the section’s efforts to cover the software engineering demands driving digital
transformation in terms of teaching and research.
Responsibilities and tasks
Are you interested in software and process engineering for digital transformation, then, perhaps you are our new Assistant Professor?
You are expected to develop your field of research in a way that complements and extends other research activities in the section. You
will engage in close collaboration with other members of the section in research activities on one or more of the following topics:
Empirical software and process engineering
Human and cognitive aspects of software and process engineering
Software development and process management in a start-up environment, e.g., lean start-up
Software ecosystems and platforms
Data-driven software engineering including data-driven requirements and software experimentation
Technical debt management
Agile and lean methods
Moreover, you will work together with other members of the section to develop and strengthen our current course offerings in software and
process engineering. Teaching and development of courses have a very high priority at DTU Compute. We are constantly developing both
introductory and advanced courses with respect to both content and the most modern educational tools and methods. The department is
well-known for its modern, engaged and pedagogical teaching and prioritizes that all employees participate actively in course development.
To support this, we offer all new employees university teaching courses.
At DTU Compute, we value knowledge sharing and cross functionality. Therefore, you are expected to cooperate and be eager to build relations with colleagues in the department and with other departments of DTU.
You are expected to participate in departmental teaching at all levels so you should value visionary and meaningful communication. The teaching will
cover Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-level courses. Bachelor courses are taught in Danish, other courses in English. For international candidates, DTU
offers Danish language courses for the purpose of being able to teach in Danish within the first 2-3 years.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information systems engineering or related fields.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be
agreed upon with the relevant union. The position is a full-time position.
An assistant professorship is a permanent entry-level faculty position. After a maximum of 4 years, an assistant professor can be promoted to an
