Assistant Professorship (W1) for Physics and Technology of Photonic Materials

The Department of Physics (Faculty of Science) invites applications for the position of an
Assistant Professor (W1-Juniorprofessur)for Physics and Technology of Photonic Materials
to start in the summer semester 2018. The initial appointment is for three years, which is extendable to three further years following a positive intermediate and peer-reviewed evaluation.
The holder of the position is expected to engage in teaching at the Bachelor and Master level, with a particular emphasis on photonics, and for students
with physics as a major or minor subject, as well as teacher training (Lehramt).
The research activities should complement Paderborn’s emphasis on optoelectronics and photonics, especially within the scope of the "Centre for
Optoelectronics and Photonics Paderborn" (CeOPP), as well as the collaborative research center TRR142 "Tailored Nonlinear Photonics" project. A
research focus on the physics, fabrication and application of photonic materials and structures is anticipated, preferably with expertise in the
areas of inorganic/organic hybrid structures, molecular functional materials plasmonic/metamaterials and/or photonic nanostructures is desirable.
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate appropriate research skills and experience through peer-reviewed publications and collaborations
with partners within Germany and/or internationally. Collaboration with research groups at the University of Paderborn as well as applications for
third-party funding are expected.
Prerequisites for a candidacy comprise an excellent PhD degree and teaching skills in Physics or a closely related field. The PhD degree
should have been obtained within the last five years and the scientific expertise should be proven by further outstanding publications.
