Position of Assistant Professor (with Tenure-Track Option) at the Institute of Ion Physics and Applied Physics, University of Innsbruck
The Institute of Ion Physics and Applied Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics at the University of Innsbruck seeks to fill a position of a full-time (40 hours per week) assistant professor (Chiffre MIP-10542) as of October 01, 2019. The position is limited to 6 years. However, a tenure-track agreement can be offered within the first year of employment. Upon positive evaluation, the position is then converted into a tenured associated professorship.
The position holder is supposed to carry out independent research in the field of multiscale modeling of complex phenomena, together with active acquisition of funding for this research. Original research publications in leading international journals are expected. The position holder is required to teach at university level within all study programs in physics (also in German within two years from start of the appointment), as well as for other departments, including supervision of students at all levels. Furthermore, the holder of the position is expected to take part in academic administration and service.
Doctoral degree in theoretical physics, theoretical chemistry or a related field
Postdoctoral or corresponding professional experience
Research experience in at least one of the fields quantum chemistry, modelling of molecules, clusters or nanomaterials and method or code development
relevant publications in leading international, refereed journals and presentations at international conferences/workshops
existing international collaborations with internationally leading groups
experience in acquisition of third-party funding or scientific project management desirable
international mobility and visibility
ability to work in a team, communication skills
For this position the minimum gross salary is € 3.804 / month (14 times). There is a wage increase with relevant working experience. Furthermore, the university offers numerous attractive
