Associate Professor or Full Professor
in »Discrete Mathematics and Combinatorial Optimization«

to begin as soon as possible.
Scientific environment
The professorship is part of the TUM Department of Mathematics. The Munich Region with several strong research groups in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science and established strong contacts to other disciplines and industry provides a stimulating and vibrant research environment.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the field of Discrete Mathematics and Combinatorial Optimization. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area, the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments. Active participation in the DFG funded graduate school "Advanced Optimization in a Networked Economy" (AdONE) is expected.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad and a strong interest in interdisciplinary research is expected as well as a proven ability to gain and to lead major research projects and to attract third-party funding (DFG, BMBF, EU, etc.).
