The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

Your Role
To diversify and reinforce the existing skills and expertise within the department of engineering, the candidate is
    expected to:
  • Perform high-level research in the area of electrical sensor technology
  • Apply for competitive third-party funding
  • Setup and manage a research group
  • Establish collaborations with national and international industrial partners
  • Contribute to the scientific strategy of the department of engineering
  • Contribute to the teaching of bachelor and master programs in engineering
Activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Measurement technology
  • Wireless and optical sensors
  • Analogue and digital signal processing
  • Hard- and software
Your Profile
The ideal candidate is an internationally leading researcher with proven competence in engineering sciences and industrial applications in the broader domain of this announcement.

The successful candidates should have:
  • A PhD degree in engineering sciences or related subjects
  • Recognized and creative contributions in research in sensor technology and related subjects
  • A successful experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Good organizational and management skills
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations
In Short
Contract Type: 5 years (tenure track) - with perspective of a permanent position and promotion to Associate Professor upon a positive evaluation. In case of an excellent more senior candidate, a direct appointment at the level of Associate Professor would then be on a permanent position
Work Hours: Full Time 40.0 Hours per Week
Location: Kirchberg
