The Department of Environmental Science and Analytical Chemistry does research spanning over the fields of analytical chemistry,
environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, atmospheric science and biogeochemistry. Much of this research has a strong base in chemistry
and the department, with ~200 employees, has modern instrumental and laboratory infrastructure for various types of chemical analysis and measurement.
The Contaminant Chemistry Unit is one of five units in the department. Its overarching research goal is to understand how chemical
contaminants behave in environmental systems. The unit participates in doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s programmes in environmental
science as well as in a master’s programme in environmental and health protection.
Environmental chemistry develops understanding of contaminant behaviour in environmental systems using trace analytical methods.
Research, teaching and supervision. The main tasks include taking a major role in the continuous development of the master’s
programme in environmental and health protection in cooperation with Swedish employers.
In order to qualify for employment as associate professor, the applicant must have demonstrated good teaching skills and have
a doctoral degree, or equivalent research expertise, of relevance to the subject area and the main responsibilities of the position.
All teaching positions at Stockholm University require the ability to collaborate and the general ability and suitability to perform one’s duties.
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research and teaching skills. The assessment of research skills
will focus primarily on merits within the subject area of the position.
Teaching and learning in higher education
Completed training in teaching and learning in higher education, or equivalent knowledge, is an advantage. An applicant
who has not completed at least 15 credits of teaching and learning in higher education and is not considered to have
otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge should undergo such training within the first two years of employment.

The development of the master’s programme in environmental and health protection will require good Swedish language skills.
If the successful candidate does not speak Swedish at the time of appointment, he/she is expected to acquire the necessary language skills.
