Postdoctoral scientist in heart failure research
for a translational cooperative project with the Institute of Physiology of the Charité - Universitätsmedizin (head: Prof. Dr. med. W.M. Kübler).
We are a committed, interdisciplinary working group with international connections and are looking for a highly motivated and experienced team worker with an excellent scientific track record who shares our vision of translational research between bench and bedside and will strengthen our team in terms of both research content and methodology.
The initial work contract will be for 2 years (with an option for extension).
The scope of the project:
The specific area of the position to be occupied consists of establishing a translational research pipeline to research the pathomechanisms of vascular remodeling in pulmonary hypertension caused by left ventricular disease, to identify the mechanosensitive signal pathways involved, and to test newly identified therapeutic targets. This will involve the biomechanical, molecular biological and immunohistological examination of human tissue samples in consideration of the individual patient data, mechanistic examinations of mechanosensitive signal pathways in vascular smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells and fibroblasts, and the exploration of therapeutic interventions in suitable preclinical animal models.
We seek:
We are looking for competitive applicants (m/f) with a doctoral degree (MD, PhD, Biologist, Veterinarian or equivalent) from Germany or abroad with laboratory experience and excellent publications. Experimental skills and knowledge in cell biology, animal experiments, experience of working with human tissues and experience in translational cardiovascular research are desirable. Initiative, ability to work in a team but also independently, capacity for analytical thought, good organizational abilities and responsibility are required.
The applicant (m/f) will also be responsible for supervising doctoral students.
We offer:
Starting from July 1st 2017 we offer a Postdoc position for two years with the possibility of extension. Salary is paid according to the German public service scale based on candidates background and experience (TV-L)
