The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Bonn invites applications for a
Professorship (W2 Tenure Track W3)
at the Physikalisches Institut to be filled as soon as possible.
The research area of the professorship should be solid state physics and focus
on the investigation of novel quantummaterials with controllable or switchable
properties. Possible fields of research include layered two-dimensional materials,
topological materials, or materials with correlated electronic or magnetic properties.
Functionality leading to novel sensors or optical or electronic devices
is desirable. The field of research should be linked to and extend existing research
activities and infrastructure in Bonn. These include possible participation
in the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 185 "OSCAR - Open System
Control of Atomic and Photonic Matter" of the German Research Foundation,
the Cluster of Excellence proposal "ML4Q", and other future focused research
The candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the new "Research and
Technology Centre Detector Physics" (FTD) at Bonn University, which offers a
state-of-the-art infrastructure e.g. for microstructuring and the characterisation
Teaching at the usual level for such a professorship is required.
