The place of employment is Hamburg (outstation at DESY). Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht is running the platform GEMS for complementary use of synchrotron radiation and neutrons (http://gems.hzg.de). GEMS is operated at outstations at DESY in Hamburg (high-brilliance high energy photons at PETRA III and DORIS III) and at the Forschungsneutronenquelle Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) in Garching (close to Munich), the most powerful German neutron source.
GEMS is part of the Materials Physics Division of the Institute of Materials Research. It is the user platform which provides external users with unique research instruments for their materials research with a strong focus on challenging in-situ experiments. The instruments at GEMS are available for the use of research scientists and engineers from universities, research institutes and industry.
Within the EU INTERREG B project "CAROTS (Commercial Analytical Research Organisations Transnational Strategy)" we are promoting industrial research at large scale research facilities, in particular within the Baltic Sea Region (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany).
Objective of CAROTS is to establish a new type of SME – Commercial Analytical Research Organisations (CARO) - providing services in various fields. CAROs will help companies to benefit from knowledge and potential of scientists and research facilities in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). They will facilitate access of companies to research infrastructures (RI) and to scientific expertise needed to solve analytical tasks in areas like e.g. New Materials, Nanotech or Life Sciences and thus significantly expedite innovation.
Within this framework, we are searching for a Communication Officer (m/f) based in Hamburg (Outstation at DESY). You will be responsible for coordinating the project's communication activities both internally and externally. We expect you to work closely with the other project partners in order to ensure effective communication within and overall visibility of the project and its activities. This position will initially be starting as soon as possible - with 20 hours per week - and is limited until the end of June 2021.
Required for the position are:
a university degree or similar expertise and experience
experience in project management
business fluent English skills
expertise in office software
friendly and secure demeanour, also in an international environment
strong teamwork-, communication- and organisational skills
Knowledge of working at large scale research infrastructures as well as experience in communication with industry and skills in German and/or any languages of the partner countries (see above) are an asset.
