Postdoctoral scientist (f/m)

Universitätsklinikum Carl Gustav Carus Dresden. Dresden, 08.11.2017

The unit of Hypoxia Signaling in Inflammation has a 2.5-year position available for a

Postdoctoral scientist (f/m)

from February 1st, 2018 with the option to be extended (salary group TV-L E13).

The Project:
Our research group has a long-standing interest in the mechanisms related to the maintenance of oxygen homeostasis during physiological and pathological conditions in vivo. We described for the first time the important interaction of the oxygen sensor PHD2 and different HIFa subunits during erythropoiesis (Franke et al., Blood, 2013), bone homeostasis (Rauner et al., JBMR, 2016), the hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) compartment (Singh et al., Blood, 2013) and cancer (e.g. Mamlouk et al., IJC, 2014).
As part of a newly established research consortium focusing on the adrenal gland (CRC/TRR SFB 205, together with the University of Munich and Wurzburg) we seek to unravel the connection between hypoxia pathway proteins in different compartments of the adrenal gland, under steady state and inflammatory conditions. For this, we have a unique collection of transgenic mouse lines and in-house state of the art techniques. The project will provide the opportunity for various collaborations within the new consortium and the University of Dresden (e.g. MPI-CBG, CRTD, and Medical Faculty). Further information can be found at:

We are looking for a motivated and highly qualified researcher with keen interest in hypoxia biology and extensive experience in in vivo work. The position requires a PhD degree related to molecular biology, molecular medicine or related disciplines. Significant publications fitting to the research topic is expected.

How to apply:
Applicants should send their full application including a letter of motivation, CV, publication list, and the names of two references as a single pdf file to Prof. Ben Wielockx (email only).

We kindly ask you to apply preferably via our online form to make the selection process faster and more effective. Of course, we also consider your written application without any disadvantages.

Applications from women and people with disabilities are particularly welcome. We look forward to receiving your application by December 23th, 2017. Travel and application fees cannot be refunded or transferred.
