The Max Planck Institute for Physics focuses on basic research in the fields of particle and astroparticle physics from both
experimental and theoretical perspectives. The institute has ca. 320 employees from more than 20 countries. To strengthen our
electronic engineering department, we are looking for an
electronics engineer or physicist (m/f)
PhD/ M.Sc. / Dipl.-Ing. (Univ.)
The electronics engineering staff of the institute develops innovative electronics for different detector systems, such as:
Low-noise electronics for use in cryogenic systems
Fast electronics for different detector systems with low power consumption
Microwave small signal detection
Radiation-hard electronics for different detectors with safe operation both at room and liquid argon temperature
The successful candidate will be expected to bring expertise in one or more of the areas of development listed above. Active participation from first ideas to
installation in the experiment is expected. Candidates with the following qualifications will be considered:
Experience with techniques for the detection of very small signals and signal processing
Experience in RF and Microwave design/measurement
Knowledge in FPGA programming
Ability to work independently while integrated in a team with physicists
Willingness to travel to different experiment locations
Knowledge of experimental physics (desirable)
Rewarding scientific and international work environment
Salary and benefits according to public service pay scale (TVöD Bund)
Contract initially limited to 3 years with the possibility of a permanent position
