EIFER (European Institute for Energy Research) was established in 2001 as collaboration between the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Electricité de France (EDF). It is located near the Centre of Karlsruhe in the Technology Park of the city. The institute gathers an international team of more than 100 researchers and offers a comfortable working environment equipped with advanced research facilities.
The activities of Low Carbon Hydrogen System (around 20 researchers) embrace in particular Hydrogen field including upstream research and development of components, systems trials in the laboratory and in demonstration field projects, technical and economic studies, technologies and market potentials assessment and strategic positioning. They are fostered by a smart network of academic and industrial partners and a commitment in several national (French and German) and European funding research projects dealing with low carbon hydrogen production and usages.
The assigned tasks involve
- Assistance to the mastery of work (technical advisor) in hydrogen demonstration projects for dimensioning, coupling and testing of main components. It includes modeling and analytic calculations of fluid, heat and power management
- Technical contributions to the development and tests of hydrogen technologies in laboratory and demonstration activities
- Contributions to the development of monitoring tools, from the integration of sensors into monitoring systems up to communication concepts with remote servers, as well as visualization and data exploitation tools
- Project management assistance, following time schedule and respect of the objectives
Additional task could be part of the assignment, such as contributions to the development of controllers of hydrogen infrastructure components, analysis of data and reporting, the redaction of technical economic analysis on hydrogen technologies.
Required qualifications / skills / interests
- The job applicant should hold a Master degree educational level (or equivalent) or higher in engineering (preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering or IT technologies)
- The applicant should be interested in the field of energy. Previous knowledge in hydrogen technologies and/or in the energy sector would be an asset
- Previous experience in the industry or in applied research would be an asset
- The position requires interdisciplinary and analytical thinking, good presentation and communication skills, ability to work independently and responsibly in a structured way and to convey clear and efficient messages
- The position requires a strong ability for team working
- Experiences with data exploitation from controllers & data loggers and/or IT competencies in data base management and data analysis would be a strong asset.
A professional level of English is compulsory. A good knowledge in French or German would be of value.
Conditions
The duration of the position is initially 2 years starting as soon as possible. The salary is based on qualification and experience according to TV-L (100%).
