The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden and Cluster of Excellence (CRTD) forms a network of
more than 85 research groups working in the areas of Hematology / Immunology, Diabetes, Neurodegenerative
diseases as well as Bone Regeneration.
The CRTD, as part of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) of the Technische
Universität Dresden, offers as soon as possible a position for an outstanding applicant with
scientific qualification as
Facility Leader Electrophysiology (f/m) subject to personal qualification, employees are remunerated according to salary group up to E 13 TV-L
working to set up an Electrophysiology Facility which will evaluate functionality of newly (re-)generated neurons
in vivo, or following differentiation from stem cells and transplantation, using patch-clamp and/or micro-electrode
(MEA) recordings. The facility will cooperate with various research groups in the analysis of tissue from diverse
species (human, mouse, zebrafish) and CNS regions (telencephalon, spinal cord, retina). The contract is initially
limited until December 31st, 2017.
Tasks: The candidate will set up and implement the new Electrophysiology Facility including developing a concept
of the scientific services offered by the facility. Ideally, the candidate will conduct and guide electrophysiological
experiments as well as participate in our interdisciplinary approach – covering neuronal function, differentiation,
regeneration, disease modelling, stem cell research and integration into neuronal circuits.
Requirements: A suitable candidate must hold a PhD degree, be an expert in Electrophysiology, have extensive hands-on
experience with patch-clamp and extracellular recordings, including a general background in Neuroscience. The candidate
should be interested in an interdisciplinary and interactive work environment in the area of neuronal function, stem cell
research and analysis. Communication in English is essential since we offer an international working atmosphere at the
CRTD and are participating in international projects. A background in programming, statistics, and data analysis will be helpful.
