Full PhD Position (f/m/d) Engineering Sciences or Natural Sciences
The University of Bremen is a mid-sized German university with 290 professorships and almost 20,000 enrolled students and offers a broad range of subjects and outstanding,
internationally renowned research. At the same time it provides a distinguished diversity management that realizes equal opportunities and is certified as family-friendly
University. Within this highly attractive framework the following DFG-funded Research Training group has been established in the Department of Production Engineering which
is one of the top departments in Germany in terms of extramural funding.
The Research Training Group MIMENIMA (DFG GRK 1860) Micro-, meso- and macroporous non-metallic Materials: Fundamentals and Application offers
10 Full PhD Positions
(wage braket TV-L 13)
Working for a doctorate in the Engineering Sciences (Dr.-Ing.) or the
Natural Sciences (Dr.rer.nat.)
Starting October 1st, 2019, for a fixed term of 3 years
The employment is fixed-term and governed by the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract, § 2 I (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Therefore, candidates may
only be considered for appointment if they still have the respective qualification periods available in accordance with § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.
We invite highly motivated, outstanding and team-oriented graduate students (Master) graduating in 2019 (or graduating in 2018) with a sound background in materials
science, physics, chemistry, biotechnology, mechanical, chemical engineering or computer sciences and related areas to apply.
A group of internationally renowned researchers together with excellent funding provides unique opportunities to develop your career in a vibrant scientific environment.
The exceptional research idea of MIMENIMA is the conditioning of novel porous ceramic structures and their surfaces for applications in important emerging fields of energy,
environmental, chemical processing, catalysis, bio- and space technology. Solutions in this area will help to preserve an intact environment, to implement renewable energy
concepts and to develop new process technologies. This challenging and interdisciplinary research field covers the following subtopics and offers 10 multifaceted research projects:
Material Development P 01/03: Plasmonic porous ceramics P 02/03: Polymer-derived ceramics with graded structures for phase separation and catalysis
Process Analysis P 03/03: NMR Methods for a comprehensive and fast characterization of mass transport and catalytic
reactions in porous materials P 04/03: Detection of colloid motion in deep bed filtration processes by means of Fast-X-Ray- Tomography (at TU Dresden)
Basic Research Experiments For Mass Transport In Porous Materials P 05/03: Investigation of dielectrophoretic effects in porous structures P 06/03:
Mass transport in graded monolithic catalyst supports for strong exothermal gas phase and multiphase reactions
Modelling and Simulation P 07/03: Transport, separation and mixing of complex multiphase fluids in pores and porous
membranes with varying surface activities P 08/03: Simulation of structural changes of mesoporous films and layers during liquid infiltration
and drying P 09/03: Computer analysis of complex porous ceramic structures (computer science degree needed)
Special Application of Porous Ceramics P10/03: Application of porous ceramics for phase separation in spacecrafts
