The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for
the position of
Full Professor
in »Traffic Engineering and Control«
to begin in winter semester 2018/19. The position is a tenured
W3 position.
Scientific environment
The professorship is assigned to the TUM Department of Civil Geo
and Environmental Engineering, which takes an interdisciplinary
perspective on the built environment. The central concerns of
the department are summarized in its mission statement
Construction - Infrastructure - Environment - Planet Earth. The
professorship is part of the Focus Area Mobility & Transportation
Systems, which focuses on complementary fields of research
and teaching, ranging from transport infrastructure and
technologies, mobility behavior and services, integrated land-use
and transport modeling and planning, to system analysis and
multi-modal traffic management.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the
promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an
expert in the research area of traffic engineering and control,
including the methods of observation, analysis and control of
traffic flow in networks as well as the implementation of traffic
management strategies for multi-modal transportation solutions.
The teaching load includes courses in the university’s German
bachelor and English master programs.
The candidate is expected to contribute to a cross-faculty
research platform and to cooperate with practice partners at
regional, national and international level.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation
who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an
internationally recognized research program. A university degree
and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific
qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability
to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research
experience abroad is expected. International experience in the
private business sector, a proven ability to develop strategic concepts
for public authorities and a full commitment to do interdisciplinary
research by attracting third-party funding is mandatory.
