The
University of Potsdam, Faculty of Arts, Department of History
and Classical Philology invites applications for the following
position, to be filled as soon as possible:
Full Professorship (W 3)
for Classical Philology
The holder of the post will represent the full disciplinary breadth of Classical Philology.
They will teach courses for undergraduate degree programs comprising the BA in
Philological Studies, the BEd in Latin, Latin and Greek for the dual-subject BA program
as well as the postgraduate program MEd in Latin. The successful candidate is
expected to have experience in teacher training programs, to actively develop the BEd
and MEd programs and to cooperate and engage with secondary schools of the state
of Brandenburg.
In terms of research, the successful candidate must have a track record of high-caliber
publications in both Latin and Greek Philology. A focus on Digital Humanities in
research and/or teaching as well as a willingness to cooperate actively in the projects
and initiatives of the Network Digital Humanities at the Faculty of Arts would be
particularly welcome.
It is expected that the holder of the chair will collaborate closely with the neighboring
disciplines (Ancient History, Languages, Literature and Cultures) in both research and
in teaching. The ability to connect to further research interests of the Faculty of Arts
(Religious Studies, Jewish Studies, the Cultural History of Violence, Gender Studies)
would be an additional asset.
Moreover, candidates are expected to have an international research profile and a track
record of third-party funding and management thereof.
