Anthropogenic particles, namely microplastics are considered a severe environmental threat. Improved knowledge on occurrence, sources and behavior is the basis to develop mitigation measures. The Department of Analytical Chemistry is seeking at the earliest possible date a:
Group Leader ‘Anthropogenic
Particles / Microplastics’ (m/f/x)
Working time 100% (39 h/week), limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension according to WissZeitVG, possibility of transition into a permanent position (tenure track).
Your tasks
Leading of the Group on Anthropogenic Particles/Microplastics
Development of a research agenda on particles in the UFZ’s Topic "Chemicals in the Environment"
Acquisition of third-party funding at national and European level
Interaction with authorities and industry
Your profile
Excellent PhD in analytical chemistry, environmental sciences, environmental engineering or equivalent
Experience as postdoctoral scientist in environmental studies of anthropogenic particles/microplastics
Documented expertise in particle analysis using spectroscopic/microscopic techniques
High motivation and interest in multi-disciplinary research
Very good skills in communication, teamwork and leadership
Proficient English language skills, preferably also German
