At the earliest possible entry date, the TUM Graduate School is looking for a full-time
Junior Science Manager (m/f/d)
in the area of „Public Relations and Diversity”.
Technical University of Munich (TUM) is committed to the scientific training of junior researchers in science,
engineering, life sciences and social sciences. The TUM Graduate School (TUM-GS) promotes the scientific and
interdisciplinary qualification of doctoral candidates to the highest international standards. Professional science
management develops and organizes the high-quality doctoral program and all services. As Junior Science Manager
at TUM you will be systematically qualified in our 4-year Science Management Qualification Program (SMQP). This
will include on-the-job training as project manager and lecturer in TUM-GS seminars as well as a dedicated training
program in science management and neighboring fields. Acquitting yourself well in your tasks and successfully
completing the SMQP with a certificate will open great career prospects at TUM as well as at leading universities and
research institutions around the world.
After an introductory phase, you will take on the following general responsibilities and develop further
expertise in:
- Developing and implementing TUM-GS’s diversity strategy;
- Managing TUM-GS’s communications with internal and external, as well as international stakeholders;
- Developing TUM-GS’s target group-specific communications and impact strategy;
- Maintaining and coordinating TUM-GS’s print, web and social media strategy and materials;
- Managing general tasks and services of TUM-GS.
We are looking for applicants with:
- A documented interest and experience in international higher education and multicultural settings;
- A documented interest and experience in diversity related issues and enabling equal opportunities;
- A documented interest in working in science management to facilitate highest international standards in doctoral
qualification;
- An excellent Master’s degree in a relevant academic field;
- Work experience in communications, marketing or related professional areas preferred;
- A strong command of social-media communications and website operation; knowledge in graphic design as well
as impact measurement and analysis preferred;
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills in both German and English;
- Confidence presenting in front of large audiences and in negotiation settings;
- Excellent organization and time-management skills, creativity, spontaneity and ability to work independently and
handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Successful applicants will initially be given a 2-year contract, which is remunerated according to TV-L E13. After
passing the interim evaluation, the contract will be extended by two more years. As an equal opportunity employer,
