To strengthen the research profile of the Department of Analytical Chemistry, we offer the following vacancy at the earliest possible date:

PostDoc / Senior Scientist (m/f)
in environmental chemistry

working time: 100% (39h per week); limited for 2 years

Your tasks:

We invite researchers to apply for one of the following two research fields a) or b)

a) Development of a research programme to improve predictability of environmental transformations of chemicals based on their molecular structure

  • The programme may combine experimental work (high throughput testing and product analysis) and modelling approaches

b) Development of a research programme on organic contaminants in the water cycle, esp. on transformation reactions and products

  • Combination of field and lab work, including natural and engineered systems with a focus on water reuse and emerging contaminants

For a) and b)
  1. Acquisition of third-party funding at national and international/European level
  2. Establishment of collaborations with sustainable chemistry, environmental engineering and/or chemical‘s regulation
  3. Interaction with authorities and industry

Your profile:

  • Excellent PhD degree in (environmental) chemistry, environmental sciences/engineering (or equivalent), postdoctoral experience preferred
  • Documented expertise (a) in theoretical environmental chemistry (using QSAR, etc.) or (b) in pollutants‘ / chemicals‘ fate with the focus on process studies
  • Challenged by the opportunity to develop a scientific research programme in chemodynamics connected to your own academic career
  • High motivation and interest in multi-disciplinary research
  • Very good skills in communication, teamwork and leadership
