Our Institute of Communications and Navigation in Neustrelitz wishes to recruit a qualified
Mathematician, Physicist or similar
Research in the Field of Resilient Navigation of Ships with Distributed Sensor Fusion
At the institute of communication and navigation of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) at the location of Neustrelitz we develop new technologies for
performant navigation of ships. We want to extend our team of researchers, who tackle challenging topics in the field of maritime traffic assessment.
The primary goal of the team is the provision of an unambiguous description of the traffic situation using cooperative traffic assessment. In order
to achieve the above goal, the team uses data and information from the automatic identification system (AIS), from the navigational sensors of the
vessel and from the maritime radar. Insofar, the current research activities of the team is focused on answering the question of, which object
tracking procedure is able to reliable track maritime targets in extreme conditions (multiple targets, cluttering).
Your main tasks are:
research in the field of cooperative maritime traffic assessment
development of algorithms and methods to fuse distributed sensors
development of software in a c++ real time framework
planning and execution of measurement campaigns, simulation campaigns and experiments in general as well as validation of the results
documentation of all research in technical documents and journal paper publications as well as presentation at national and international conferences
working in national and international projects
finished study of math, physics, radar engineering, electrical engenieering or similar (Master)
ideally PhD in one of the following topics radar technologies, phyiscs or electrical engineering
expert in data and sensor fusion algorithms
very good knowledge in programming in python/matlab and C++
knowledge in project acquisition is desirable
expertise in radar sensor technologies
very good English skills (speaking and writing)
very good German skills (speaking and writing)
very good analytical skills
