The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern is one of five medical faculties in Switzerland. The medical faculty's
Department of BioMedical Research (DBMR) supports and coordinates biomedical research and runs core facilities.
To strengthen the increasing need for computational and bioinformatics competencies, the DBMR and the medical faculty
have opened a call for a faculty position:
Open-rank professorship with aim Associate Professor for Omics Data Science for genomic analysis in cancer, cardiovascular disease, or neuroscience
to be occupied by June 1, 2023 or upon agreement.
A strong, independent academic track record in computational genomic medicine is expected for the position, with a
background in applied biomedical research. The thematic focus should lie in one of the strategic fields of the medical
faculty, including cardiovascular disease, neuroscience, or cancer. Interactions with Data-science professorships of
clinical data science, digital pathology, computational neuroscience, telemedicine, and the new center of artificial intelligence
in medicine are expected.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in biomedical or computer science.
