Dense suspensions have a broad range of practical applications, from flowing concrete and cement pastes to paints or biological situations. The project will focus on visualizing the motion of single particles in 3D. To this end different experimental techniques will be employed, from fast confocal microscopy to light-sheeting imaging. Key questions in the project include particle segregation in shear flows of polydsisperse suspensions and relative motion between different particles.
