Foresight and Scenario Research
Temporary position (until end of 2024), salary level EG 13 TV-L, 50%
Background:
The Cluster of Excellence SE²A – Sustainable and Energy Efficient Aviation is a DFG-funded interdisciplinary research
center investigating technologies for a sustainable and eco-friendly air transport system. On SE²A, the HBK is working
with the TU Braunschweig, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) on the basis of cooperation agreements.

Employment:
The Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) is an internationally oriented, artistic-scientific university with the right to award
doctorates and habilitation. The Institute for Design Research teaches and researches in the areas of digitization, mobility
and transformation processes with the help of multidisciplinary design approaches.
The entry date is as soon as possible, and the duration is initially limited until the end of 2024. The position is part-time
with 50% of the regular weekly working time (currently 19.9 hours / week). The payment is made according to task assignment
of personal requirements to salary group EG 13 TV-L. The position does not justify any employment prospects
at HBK beyond the end of the project term. The qualification for accomplishing the PhD takes place in close cooperation
with the professorship “Construction and Materials” (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gerhard Glatzel). International applicants (m/f/d) may
have to successfully complete a visa process before hiring can take place. Applications from international scientists

Tasks:
Within the framework of the sub-project „Scenarios for air traffic systems in alternative 2050 environments (SCENAIR-
2050)“ carried out at HBK, scenarios should be created that systematically map the external framework conditions
of the air traffic system up to the year 2050. Your area of responsibility will include:
- Trends and future research and development of scenarios
- Backcasting and development of a transformation roadmap
- Moderation of workshops and creation of publications
- Creation and management of Delphi surveys and other expert surveys
- Cooperation with other sub-projects as well as communication and utilization of the results
The position requires the ability to work independently and responsibly, willingness to work in a team, good conceptual
and analytical skills, organizational and communication skills.
Who we are looking for:
- Very good university degree in design or another qualification for the task such as engineering, architecture, environmental
sciences or sociology, which entitles the holder to pursue a doctorate
- Knowledge of projective methods, especially scenario technology
- Experience in transdisciplinary cooperation, especially in the design / technical / scientific field
- Experience in creating qualitative and quantitative system models
- High communication skills and willingness to moderate workshops
- Very good command of English in speaking and writing; knowledge of the German language would be a plus
- Ideally you have experience with Delphi and the software AnyDynamics as well as experience from work in aeronautical
research.
