Starting at March, 1st 2020, the research group „Molecular and Cellular Radiobiology“ at OncoRay (head: Prof. Nils Cordes) is seeking for a highly motivated and technically skilled
PhD Student (f/m/x)
The position is part of the Innovative Training Network (ITN) „THERADNET“. The network is devoted to training and innovations in THErapeutic RADiation. It is funded under Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions (H2020-MSCA-ITN-2019, grant agreement number: 860245).
Topic: Key proteins of the cancer cell adhesome connecting radiosensitivity and angiogenesis
The successful candidate will uncover the underlying molecular mechanisms between therapy resistance chromatin and DNA repair in head and neck Cancers, identifying the structural connection between membranous cell adhesion molecules and the nuclear matrix essentially co-regulating DNA repair and characterizing the radiochemosensitizing effects of novel multi-targeting approaches in head and neck cancers in-vitro and in-vivo.
Master‘s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular / Cell Biology or related fields
Excellent knowledge and practical experience in experimental techniques covering cell and molecular biology and protein biochemistry
Strong background knowledge and experience in cancer research and chromatin Regulation
Good knowledge and practice with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Ability to work independently, efficiently and goal-oriented
Very good knowledge of the English language and willingness to work in an international Team

A Position according to the TV-L conditions (E13;100%)
The successful candidates will receive a financial package including mobility and family allowance (if applicable), and will be employed according the rules for Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in an EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Networks (ITN) and the general regulations of each institution.
