Job vacancy No. 057-2019
The Institute Theory of Polymers at the Leibniz-Institut of Polymer Research Dresden offers a
post-doc position (scientist) with 40 hours
per week
in the field of the theory and simulation of amphi-philic polymer networks.
The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) is one of the largest polymer research
facilities in Germany. As an institute of the Leibniz Association, the IPF is committed to carrying
out application-oriented basic research and receives its base funding in equal parts from the
federal and state governments.
Tasks:
This opening is embedded within the interdisciplinary research network "Adaptive polymer gels
with controlled network structure" (DFG research network FOR 2811) and intensive cooperation
with the project partners is expected. The research network contains 14 researches (including
5 Professors) at 6 different Universities or research centers throughout Germany. Focus of the
research is the control of structure formation in amphi-philic model networks. The properties of
these networks (stability, modulus, relaxation behaviour, equilibrium swelling, ...) need to be correlated
to the microscopic network structure by computer simulations and should be described
with theoretical models of network theory, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, or dynamics.
Requirements:
PA promising candidate possesses an outstanding Ph. D. degree in physics or chemistry with a
sound knowledge of satistical physics, thermodynamcis and advanced programming skills. Sound
knowledge of simulation techniques in soft condensed matter physics or theoretical chemistry are
expected.
Start:
as soon as possible
