The Hochschule Geisenheim University (HGU) is a "New Type" University (Hochschule Neuen Typs),
following a concept appraisal by the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat). The university is working
on different research fields namely soil science and plant nutrition, climate impact, botany, phytomedicine, grapevine
breeding, plant ecology and environmental protection, viticulture and horticulture, pomiculture, vegetable crops,
agricultural technology, landscape architecture and urban horticulture, oenology, wine chemistry and beverage research,
microbiology and biochemistry, chemistry and sensory of plant derived foods and economics. We dispose of an international
network of universities, research centers and partners from the industry.

You can expect:
The HGU is working on different research fields from field to fork using a wide range amount of instrumentation and a high output of analytical data.
You are working closely together with our Data Modelling Team, which helps you to discuss and solve specific problems that may need experts from different research fields.
You will work with teams from different national and international research projects as well as with students to improve their knowledge on experimental design and multivariate data analysis.
You will be responsible for the experimental design and the multivariate data analysis (MDA) from different research projects. You have to combine your knowledge
of data analysis with the knowledge of the academic research groups from other disciplines evaluating new approaches and exploring new application opportunities.
You have completed your university studies with a Ph.D. in natural sciences or engineering having a strong background in multivariate
statistics, experimental design and chemistry. Knowledge in the field of food technology, oenology or beverage technology, experiences
in analytical chemistry (e.g. GC/MS, LC/MS, FTIR, UV/VIS, NMR...) are desirable. For performing MDA you are familiar with software environments
like Matlab or "R". You are creative and a motivated team player. You are fluent in English and having strong presentation and
teaching skills. You should be able to share your knowledge with our teams and students and you should have international experiences.
One of your tasks will be to establish a group for MDA and modelling to maintain collaborations with our academic research groups to
develop new approaches and to create new research projects and to strengthen our collaboration with international partners in Chemometrics and Biometrics.
Communicating the ideas and solutions of statistical modeling to a broad community of students and scientists and acting as a driving
force to establish the way of multivariate thinking at the HGU will be a part of your job.
You will work with teams from different research fields strongly interested to improve the knowledge of MDA at the HGU. A new group for
Biometric and Chemometric research will established on the HGU. You will be involved in challenging fields of activity and have the
opportunity to work on exciting projects with an interdisciplinary environment. You have the possibility to enhance your skills by
participation at various workshops and scientific conferences.
Salary is up to TV-H public-sector pay grade 13 depending on personal qualifications.
The position is restricted for 2, 5 years.
