The Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens headed by its director Prof. Emmanuelle Charpentier is seeking a full-time Postdoc with excellent skills and knowledge in the field of Next Generation Sequencing technologies.
The Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens is an international research institute currently being established, whose research focuses on basic biological principles in bacterial pathogens (https://www.emmanuelle-charpentier-lab.org). We are particular interested in genetic and biochemical mechanisms of regulation by RNAs and proteins in bacterial pathogens causing diseases in humans, and in viruses of these pathogens. The overall aims of the Unit`s research are to gain a better understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control and regulate bacterial infectious processes.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoc to join an international and collaborative team in an outstanding and competitive scientific environment. The applicant will share his work between the Unit (https://www.emmanuelle-charpentier-lab.org) and the sequencing core facility at the MPI for Molecular Genetics headed by Bernd Timmermann (https://www.molgen.mpg.de/SeqCore), where the applicant will be located. The successful candidate is expected to develop and apply computational tools for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, like the analysis of RNAseq, ChipSeq or Methylseq data. Candidates are expected to interact closely with computer scientists and experimental biologists.
Your qualification should include:
PhD in biology/biochemistry/bioinformatics
A proven track record in next generation sequencing data analysis is desired
A proven record of successful publications in highly respected international scientific journals
Fluent in English language • Experience working abroad is considered as an advantage
Friendly disposition, confident and responsible work ethics
Working independently and as part of an international team
Self-motivated and enthusiastic to work in a competitive, dynamic, stimulating and interacting international scientific environment focusing on basic biological research
The position is initially for three years with the possibility of an extension after evaluation. The payment level is based on the German state public service salary scale (E13, TVöD-Bund) according to the training, qualifications and professional experience. The benefits correspond to the regulations of the public service. The position is available at the earliest possible date.
